Hike from Thusis through the Viamala Gorge to Zils
From 8 CHF
Description
Cross the Traversinersteg
Explore the Viamala Gorge
The picturesque village of Zillis
You start your journey at Thusis railway station, past the castles of Ehrenfels and Hohen Rätien. The trail winds up and down along the Viamala Gorge and requires a head for heights due to the narrow and steep sections. After around 2 hours, you will reach the Traversinersteg, a unique mix of steps and suspension bridge, which is perfect for a break. Continue to the Viamala Gorge Visitor Centre, where you can visit the gorge for CHF 8.00 or have a snack. You can also continue without the visit and entrance fee. The trail then follows the Hinterrhein with some steep climbs and leads to the charming village of Zillis. From the village centre, take the bus back to Thusis railway station.
