Description
Gold medal for the most beautiful hiking trail
Breathtaking view of Lake Thun
Observation of ibexes and chamois
Floral splendour from May to July
The hiking trail from the Niederhorn to the Gemmenalphorn is a true gem for nature lovers. The hike begins above the tree line and offers breathtaking views of Lake Thun and the majestic peaks of the Eiger, Moench, and Jungfrau. The path is initially flat and leads to Hohseil-Seeli, where you might spot alpine newts. The ascent to the Burgfeldstand, the highest point of the hike, is challenging, but the view of the surrounding mountains and the chance to see ibexes and chamois make it worthwhile. From May to July, crocuses and edelweiss turn the alpine meadows into a sea of flowers. The descent into the Justistal is steep, but the encounter with grazing cattle and deer makes up for the effort. In summer, you can take a break in the alpine huts and maybe even watch cheese being made. The path continues through the valley and ends in Beatenberg, where you can finish the hike with a view of the steep valley.
