The Nidlenloch adventure offers a unique caving experience suitable for individuals with average fitness and children over the age of 8. This 4- to 5-hour tour includes the services of a certified cave guide, cave entry, a helmet with a light, and gloves. If needed, equipment such as a cave suit for 25 CHF, boots for 5 CHF, and a 22-liter backpack for 10 CHF can be rented. If you choose not to rent equipment, you should bring sturdy clothing such as work trousers or tough jeans, a T-shirt, a sweater, a fleece jacket, and hiking boots or shoes. Don’t forget to pack snacks and drinks. If you are renting equipment, long underpants or leggings and high socks (like hiking or ski socks) are recommended. The tour times are from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on specific dates, including February 3, March 2, April 6, May 4, June 8, July 6, August 3 and 31, October 5, November 3 and 30, 2024. The meeting point is in front of the Restaurant Hinter Weissenstein, where you will meet your guides and receive an initial introduction. After a short walk to the cave entrance, the adventure begins with a safety briefing, followed by the actual cave exploration, lasting 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Nidlenloch is known for simple climbing spots alternating with larger and smaller passage sections. The most famous spot in Nidlenloch is the "Jungfernschlupf," carved into the stalactite by the first explorers, which is a bit tighter. In summer (except on Sundays), the meeting point is easily accessible by car. In winter and on Sundays, the approach is made with the cable car from Oberdorf to Weissenstein, and from there it is a 30-minute walk to the meeting point. On clear days, the walk is enhanced by a fantastic panoramic view over the Mittelland to the mountains.
